Learning, Networking and a Few Unexpected Souvenirs!
Recently, our team travelled to Dunedin to attend the Wealthpoint Conference, held at the impressive Forsyth Barr Stadium. The conference brought together advisers and industry professionals from across New Zealand to share ideas, discuss industry developments, and learn from one another.
As always, the conference provided valuable insights into the changing financial services landscape, with sessions covering everything from technology and compliance through to client engagement and specialist advice areas.
Representing Rural and General Insurance
Sally took part in an adviser-led general insurance workshop and panel discussion. Alongside other experienced New Zealand general insurance advisers, Sally shared practical tips, real-world experiences, and strategies for helping clients navigate increasingly complex insurance needs. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the expertise that exists within our profession and to learn from fellow advisers around the country
The discussions reinforced the importance of specialist advice, especially as clients face evolving risks and insurance markets.
A Taste of Dunedin
Not everything was spent in conference rooms. Gemma and Nick took the opportunity to enjoy the famous Speight's Brewery Tour & Guided Tasting, which offered a fascinating look behind the scenes at one of New Zealand's most iconic breweries.
The tour concluded with a guided tasting of some well-earned refreshments, and we're reliably informed that these were thoroughly enjoyed!
The Influenza A Challenge
Unfortunately, not all conference takeaways were intentional. Three members of our team returned home with an unexpected souvenir: Influenza A.
While it certainly put a dampener on the days following the conference, we're pleased to report that everyone is recovering well. It's a timely reminder that conference season may be great for networking and professional development, but it can also be an effective place for sharing germs!
The Venue
The conference venue itself was outstanding. Forsyth Barr Stadium provided a unique setting for bringing together advisers from across the country, with plenty of space for learning, networking, and catching up with industry colleagues.
The only disappointment? Despite spending several days in a rugby stadium, we didn't spot a single rugby player. We checked.
Bringing Ideas Home
We returned from Dunedin with plenty of new ideas, useful industry insights, and valuable connections that will help us continue delivering great outcomes for our clients.
Conferences like these remind us how important it is to keep learning, stay connected with industry developments, and share knowledge with fellow advisers. While we could have done without the Influenza A outbreak, the experience was well worth it, and we're already looking forward to next year's event.
